    Our Bat Control Services

Getting rid of bats in your attic or roof is a high-risk job. Due to the disease concerns that come with them, bats are the most dangerous animals we deal with. Combining the disease risk with the fact that you can fit up to a hundred bats, of some species, in a one foot square, and you have a high probability of something going very wrong due to a bat invasion.

If you even suspect that you may have a bat problem, please do not hesitate, call us immediately. Some states, including Florida, have a blackout period during which bats cannot be removed without written permission from state regulators. But during the legal season, your bat removal process will usually be completed in a few days. Your bat removal process may contain as few as three steps, but most problems require all four of the steps outlined below.

Our Unique Approach To Bat Control Service

Step 1: A Thorough Free Inspection

Bat removal begins with a focused investigation into your problem. Getting bats out of your home or business requires identification of all active and potential entry points. Please give us a call to schedule a free inspection.

Step 2: Critter Eviction Bat Control

Many animal control problems require removal before, or during, the critter eviction process. However, bat control happens quite differently. We cannot trap bats to remove them from your property, so we must close up all possible inactive entry points before getting bats out of the problem areas. Even during the blackout period, we will take steps to keep your problem from getting worse until removal of the entire population can be completed.

Step 3: Get Rid of the Bats

After sealing all inactive entry points, we install a custom made one way door to allow bats to leave your home but not reenter. Your problem may require only one such device, but, in most cases, multiples are needed. We will fabricate and install as many devices as needed to get rid of the bats on your property and leave them in place for at least four days to allow all the bats to leave the premises. When all the bats have left, the devices are removed and the critter eviction process is completed.

Step 4: Attic Restoration or Roof Treatment

Attic restoration is important with many animal removal problems. But, attic restoration is essential when it comes to bat removal. Due to the numerous diseases and pungent odors that come with bats, you must decontaminate the area as much as possible. We will remove as many droppings as possible and treat the area to breakdown what cannot be removed and eliminate odors. Once we clean it as best as we can, we will add insulation back in to replace what was damaged or removed during the invasion and removal process. When we finish, your attic will be as good as new and the energy efficiency of your home will be restored as well.

    Damage Bats Cause

Bats are small, wild animals beneficial to our environment. Their droppings are a great fertilizer, they help us get rid of insects by feeding on them, and some species even pollinate flowers. Unfortunately, those benefits only apply when we come across them outside – when found inside our homes, bats can cause a lot of trouble and damage.

Bats are considered one of the most destructive animals that can be found in our homes (mostly attics) when in large quantities. Below are some examples of the damage you can expect to find if you have bats in your house.

    Structural Damage

Even if bats decide to choose your attic as a new home, they won’t be staying there all the time – bats still need to travel in and out to feed. This means that they may cause more structural damage to your building by consistently using the same spots as entry points.

Even though bats don’t gnaw or chew, with time their guano and urine will pile up and can lead to structural damage of your property, for example collapsing of the interior structures. Bats’ waste drips through ceilings and therefore ruins insulation, causing serious damage to the construction.

    Spread of Disease

The most dangerous issue with bats living in your attic is the diseases and parasites they may carry. The bats hang from the ceiling and the waste that falls onto the floor is none of their concern, which then can result in the feces piling up. This can be very problematic especially in cases of houses with wooden structures, as the waste causes permanent discoloration, and mildew and bacteria ingrains in the wood. This is certainly a permanent health hazard for you and your family.

Bats can also carry rabies, although it is rare. Moreover, spores for Histoplasmosis can be found in bat guano – it is a disease that affects mainly those with immunity disorders and attacks the lungs.

The biggest problem with bats’ feces is the fact that when it’s dried and touched, it turns to dust. When this happens, the dust particles become airborne and therefore the diseases are spread throughout the whole area. Some parasites carried by bats can survive a long period of time without a host, which means they can still cause a serious health issue even if they have been laying on the attic floor for weeks.

    Consequences

As discussed above, one of the main issues with having bats in your attic is the fact that their guano can be very strong and accumulate very quickly. This can lead to some serious health risks, as it gives a perfect place for mold to grow. It is also a threat to interior structures, as bats’ feces and urine can drop through structures and damage the construction. Dealing with bats should be done in a professional manner as even cleaning up their waste can lead to some serious health problems.
