    Our Raccoon Control Services

How we get rid of raccoons varies based on where the problem is occurring. The solution to a raccoon in the attic is very different from the solution to a raccoon in the yard. Raccoons are dangerous animals and have a particularly bad attitude when trapped, so please do not try to trap raccoons on your own. It is not a secret that raccoons can carry rabies, but a less known disease, raccoon roundworm, can be just as deadly and more easily contracted.

Our Unique Approach To Raccoon Control Services

Get Rid of Raccoons in the Yard

We can often simply trap and remove a raccoon in your yard or pooping in your pool. However, a larger outdoor problem may require a long-term or recurring trapping service. Even though the trapping process is often straightforward, the job is only half-finished when the animal is trapped. State laws determine what must be done with trapped raccoons. Our professionals have the resources to properly and legally deal with trapped animals in the safest and most humane way possible. Please note, it is very important to be cautious and careful when dealing with a raccoon, especially a mother raccoon when she had cubs. They can be aggressive and carry zoonotic diseases like rabies, parvoviralenteritis, canine distemper, pseudorabies, and more.

Get Rid of Raccoons in the Attic

Removing raccoons from your attic space is a complex and dangerous process. Locating a raccoon entry point is usually easier than many other attic invaders due to the size of the animal. Also due to their size, raccoon problems do not often go unnoticed as long as some other attic pests. However, being larger and stronger allows them to do more damage in a shorter time period. Resolving a problem with raccoons in the attic is a four step process:

Step 1: A Thorough Free Inspection

Every pest control problem, regardless of the size of the pest, must start with a thorough inspection. In order to resolve a raccoon problem, we have to learn where they are, where they came from, and why they are there. Once we have answered these questions, we will put together a solution tailored specifically to your problem.

    Step 2: Raccoon Removal

The removal process for raccoons is not usually as simple as trapping a raccoon. Often times there are cubs (baby raccoons) or food sources in the attic. In either case, that issue must also be addressed to prevent future problems.

Step 3: Critter Eviction Raccoon Control

Our critter eviction service provides control by securing the weak points in your home that allowed raccoon entry in the first place. Usually, due to their rather large size for an attic invader, raccoons do quite a bit of damage upon entering a structure. Our professionals are experts in repairing raccoon damage. We offer a warranty on all our raccoon critter eviction exclusions.

    Step 4: Attic Restoration

Raccoons also do significant damage to attic space in a short time period. Due to their low, wide stance, raccoons trample insulation at a much higher rate than other attic invaders. Additionally, raccoons relieve themselves in the same location time and again. As a result of this behavior, their droppings pile up and make a large mess quickly. Attic restoration is sometimes optional with other invaders but is almost always necessary after a raccoon has been in your attic.

    Damage Raccoons Cause

Raccoons are wild animals that may look cute on the pictures you see on your social media feeds, but unfortunately in real life can cause a lot of trouble. These mammals often seek shelter in our homes, especially attics. They cause damage while searching for entry points to your home – but that is still nothing compared with what they can do once they settle inside your attic or another place in your house.

    Damage to Insulation and Wires

A properly insulated attic is crucial. However, having a raccoon getting comfortable in your attic pretty much means that your insulation will be heavily damaged. Raccoons usually weigh around 8-15 lbs (but can sometimes be double that!) so they can trample the attic’s insulation just by walking around. It may not sound very threatening, but with damaged insulation caused by raccoons, your heating and cooling bills will go through the roof!

Raccoons tend to chew on the wires and scratch them, sometimes even ripping them apart and turning into nesting material. It is a damage that is often very costly to fix, may require replacement, and can cause much more serious issues. Exposed wires are a serious fire hazard – using damaged wires or overloading them may lead to causing sparks that start a fire.

    Leaving Urine and Feces

Unfortunately, raccoons can use your attic not only for nesting but also as a big litter box. Urine and feces left by only one raccoon can lead to serious health concerns, not to mention the situation when your attic becomes a home for baby raccoons.

Raccoon excrement carries the risk of disease such as roundworm eggs, which can lead to an infection called Baylisascaris. This infection can cause damage to the human nervous system and even lead to death if left untreated. It can also infect other animals such as dogs.

    Other Damage

    • Damage to ducts – raccoons tend to rip the ducts apart and you will be forced to replace them
    • Damage to wood – make sure you inspect your attic carefully to see if the structural integrity has been damaged, as raccoons chew and scratch wood and can cause serious damage to wood structures
    • Torn items – raccoons can chew and tear up almost anything that stands in their way, even tear through walls and leave holes behind them
