Snakes may be the most feared of all the animals we get rid of. Snakes are categorized as native or nonnative and venomous or nonvenomous. However, there is no such thing as a “harmless” snake. The snakes that are often called harmless are those that fall into the native, nonvenomous group. While they may not kill humans, many of them provide a painful bite, and, if you are deeply afraid of snakes, having any species nearby can be hazardous to your health. Fortunately, Wildout Animal Removal can resolve snake problems and minimize, if not entirely eliminate your snake encounters in Orlando, Tampa, Lakeland and surrounding areas. Please contact us to learn more.
As with all critters, snake control begins with an in depth inspection of the property. In addition to looking for snakes on the property, the team at Wildout Animal & Pest Removal will check the property for food sources and areas where snakes may hide. We remove any snakes we find and are able to get our hands on during the initial inspection.
Snake trapping is a concept that many people struggle with. But, it’s true, we trap snakes quite successfully. Our traps are installed following our initial inspection and manual removal service. These traps stay in place and are regularly refreshed throughout the duration of the snake removal service.
We also apply a repellent to the property, at the conclusion of our trapping process and as part of our ongoing service, to make the area less appealing to snakes. Although these deterrents are not effective against all snake species, they often help deter some species and some food sources. Successful snake removal requires controlling the population of snake food sources on the property. Food source control will, of course, reduce a snake’s desire to be on the property. However, if we remove snakes from your property, we have to make sure food source populations do not rise. We would not be much help in removing your snakes if you ended up with a rat problem as a result. For these reasons, proper snake service includes control of rodent populations on the property.’
Wildout Animal & Pest Removal‘s goal is always to control your snake problem with as little impact on your life as possible. However, sometimes it is necessary to make changes to your property to complete a proper snake removal process. Snake, or snake food source, harborage areas may need to be removed to get the population under control. This may include removal of woodpiles or sealing of a crawlspace or under a shed. There are also critter eviction options to help control snakes. These are limited to specific environments, so they will only be offered if they will be effective in addressing your particular problem.
In Florida, and other warm, tropical climates, snakes are usually an issue. Snakes are one of the humans’ oldest and most common fears. And rightfully so, there is no such thing as a completely “harmless” snake, the primary distinction between snakes is venomous and nonvenomous. Venomous snakes can be dangerous and even deadly, even to adult humans, while nonvenomous snakes can provide a painful bite or the ability to constrict and quickly become an issue for children or pets that live on or near your property.
Florida has a diverse range of snake species throughout its borders. The venomous ones include:
Non-venomous snakes commonly sighted within Florida’s borders include
As long as you observe the snake from a distance, it should not attack you. As a general rule of thumb, nonvenomous snakes will go out of their way to flee from danger while venomous ones will position themselves in a defensive stance.
Snakes will slither through small cracks in fences or walls to get onto your property. Generally, snakes are looking for shade and food. There are several options to remove snakes. To snake-proof your property, first, you’ll need to ensure that snakes have no entry/exit points. Cover up any little holes you see on the ground level along your property’s perimeter. Some snakes are also good climbers, using trees, fountains, or shrubs to get onto your roof. Be sure to inspect your perimeter to see if it’s possible that any snakes could access your property by climbing in.
Another way to snake-proof your Florida home is by disincentivizing snakes to visit. You can do this by limiting prey and shady areas that might attract a snake. Remove any piles of debris or wood, trim tall grasses, and ensure that there aren’t any other pests living under your porch or in your attic. It’s also worth noting that leaving trash or pet foods out overnight can attract rodents which, in turn, can attract snakes to your property. While there are commercial snake repellents online, these repellents can be inconsistently effective and potentially harmful to the snake.
Our wildlife specialists will deal with a snake infestation, first, by assessing your property and the snake itself. Our specialists will identify the type of snake it is and whether it’s venomous or nonvenomous. This will influence how quickly we feel the removal should take place. Then, our wildlife specialists will investigate where the snakes are entering and exiting from and if there are any other infestations, such as rodent infestations, on your property. Once the snake’s entry/exit points have been assessed and our wildlife specialists feel confident that there are no other infestations on your property, they can go ahead and begin using exclusion to get the snakes off of your property.
Exclusion is the process in which our wildlife specialists block off all of the entry/exit points on your property, leaving only one open. Then, our wildlife specialists will put a one-way door on this final entry/exit point. When the snakes go searching for food, they’ll be excluded from their nest or group by this one-way door. Eventually, a majority of the snakes will have evacuated your property and our wildlife specialists will be there to remove and relocate any stragglers. In some cases, our wildlife specialists will use humane snake repellents to encourage snakes to leave your property if the exclusion method seems to be ineffective.
After all the snakes seem to have been removed from your property, our wildlife specialists will do one thorough, final look through your house and yard to ensure we didn’t miss any exit/entry points and to seal up the remaining entry/exit point. Our wildlife specialists may also make recommendations to help you improve your house’s snake proofing or other pest proofing.
We’re passionate about helping people just like you get rid of unwanted pest problems. As such, we are proud to be the only pest control company in Orlando, Tampa, Lakeland promising excellence in value, service, and trust.
