How to Get Rid of Opossums

If you have opossums in your attic, you have to get rid of them.  Opossums in your yard may not be as big of a deal, but if you are seeing them outside consistently, you have a problem that needs to be addressed.    Removing opossums from your attic is a four step process, however getting them out of your yard should only require the first two, maybe three, steps below.

Step 1: A Thorough Free Inspection

A thorough inspection is the first step in any quality pest control process.  Opossums are no different.  Before your problem can be addressed, the roots need to be uncovered.  We need to know why your opossum is there and how it’s getting there so we can provide a solid solution.

Step 2: Get Rid of Opossums

Once we have determined why and how your opossums are invading, we can get rid of the intruders.  Opossum trapping is not a difficult process.  Of all the animals we deal with, opossums are among the easiest to capture.  However, should you attempt this process on your own, what will you do with them after you have caught them?  State laws are very specific when it comes to nuisance animals, we know the laws and always obey them (even though we do not always like to).

Critter eviction and food source control is the next step in the process.  Opossums are transient creatures by nature.  So, if they are hanging out longer than a few days, there is a deeper problem that needs to be addressed.  Usually that problem is related to some kind of food source.  Opossums are excellent rodent hunters.  Opossums in the attic have generally followed rats or squirrels in.  Our opossum solution will address any other animal problems we find during our initial inspection.  We will do what we can to seal up your home and prevent your property from being a place where opossums want to be long term.

Finally, the process wraps up with attic and insulation restoration.  As with all other attic invaders, opossums do damage to insulation by walking through it and pooping on it.  Also, they often die in the attic and bury themselves in the insulation in the process.  All of this activity damages your insulation and creates smells you do not want lingering in your attic.  Our attic restoration service will make your attic space as good as new, if not better.
