What You Should Know About Mole Removal

Moles are mostly known for their tunneling ability so it’s not very hard to notice when you have a mole problem.

But, here are some clues to define the issue:

  • Large piles of dirt
  • Ridges running across the yard
  • General destruction of yard
  • Ground feels a bit spongy

Moles like to live in solitude underground, where they can find plenty of insects to eat. They rarely ever come to the surface unless they are looking for a mate. They are about seven inches long and have pointed muzzles, their snouts are hairless and their eyes are tiny. They have webbed toes and slender claws.

If you are dealing with a mole problem, chances are they are coming into your yard for an insect problem too. By eliminating their food source, you can eliminate your mole problem. While many people have tried to use poison on moles, this just doesn’t seem to work and can cause more harm than good. Mole trapping seems to be the best way to go. However, it’s not easy so you might want to call in some professionals if it’s your first time dealing with moles.

Wildout Animal and Pest Removal can help you get rid of your mole problem in 4 easy steps:

  1. First, we provide a free, thorough inspection of your yard so we can get a clear picture of what you are dealing with. We need to find out where they are coming from, where they are burrowing into and what the best course for removing them is.
  2. We’ll start the removal process. Because we want to make removing the moles as stress-free on you and the moles as possible, we use traps and treatments. However, your mole issue may only require one or the other.
  3. Once we have removed the moles from your yard, we’ll work extra hard at making sure they don’t return by using a mole deterrent. This is to treat for the food source (mostly earthworms) that the moles continue to search for.
  4. Since it is not possible to keep moles off your property forever, we’ll continue to monitor your yard and provide inspections to make sure there is no sign of moles in the future.

To set-up your own trap, use a deep bucket within an active tunnel. First, dig a hole at the tunnel that is deep enough to place a 2-5 gallon bucket into. Pack a decent amount of dirt around the edge of the bucket. You should then cover the hole with either plywood or sod, this allows you to check the bucket daily. Once the mole falls in, you can remove it from your property safe and securely.
